Balance is not a static state
“Balance is not a static state but is like a pendulum that swings from side to side” Judith Hanson Lasater
I’ve just read this in a book and it has made me reflect back over the last 20 or so years of my life.
Words are interesting and what we interpret them to mean and BALANCE is one such word.
I can see how in the past I had taken having balance to mean keeping things on an even keel and that is not actually possible for very long, so it is no wonder I have often felt like I’m failing.
I love yoga and especially so over the last 5 years when it has become a daily part of my life. I can see now that some days on the yoga mat I am very steady and ‘balanced’ other days not so and it is ALL OK.
I can also see that even when I am balancing I am not entirely still and of course I wouldn’t be, I’m a living breathing being.
My biggest lesson of Motherhood has been ADAPTABILITY, being able to recognise what I need on different days, what my family needs and being FLEXIBLE enough to respond to these needs.
Forget about trying to balance things, I don’t think it is possible. Recognise where you are with love and acceptance and know that things are always moving to varying degrees.
